I really can’t decide who should face Brock Lesnar in the main event as both guys have a decent claim to have that right.
Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns square off this Sunday at WWE Fast Lane but Roman Reigns has already won the 2015 Royal Rumble match, fair and square I’ll have you know and despite it being an incredibly unpopular decision, WWE clearly see’s Roman Reigns as the future of the company, the next John Cena…so to say. It’s funny because in the 2014 Royal Rumble match, Batista won the event but who was the other superstar who was the runner up, the wrestler that fans cheered for when it was down to the final two? Roman Reigns and people booed as he was eliminated yet this year they booed because Reigns won the match….funny how much difference a year makes.
On the other hand, we have Daniel Bryan, the man who never received his WWE World Heavyweight Championship rematch after being stripped due to injury last year. He is clearly over with the fans, although it can be heard at times that a few have gone against him now and chant ‘No, instead of Yes!’ perhaps suggesting that the American Dragon isn’t as over as he was this time last year. Daniel Bryan was eliminated quite early on by Bray Wyatt in the Royal Rumble, yet was thrown a lifeline by Roman Reigns himself who was tricked into putting his Wrestlemania match on the line against the winner of the Bryan/ Rollins match that night, which Bryan won. It’s pretty obvious that the match was made because of the reaction to the Royal Rumble match, a way to make it seem that Bryan was given a chance to face Lesnar but to fall short by being defeated by Roman Reigns at Fastlane.
However, there are rumours about even this would not be enough to persuade fans that Reign’s time is now and that the finish of the Fastlane match could be a double DQ, resulting in the main event of Wrestlemania 31 being a triple threat match including Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan but is that a good idea?
Many don’t think that Reigns is ready for the big time, that his run as champion will be more stale then watching paint dry (shout out to Charlie Haas there) I personally don’t get excited by watching a Roman Reigns match and his mic skills are terrible, I’m not saying that he will never be championship material but I can’t see why he would be see more favorable to be Lesnar’s opponent over Daniel Bryan who is over with fans and can actually WRESTLE and some are worried that Daniel Bryan will get injured again if pushed too much like he was last year, no one would want to see him have to retire, it was hard enough last year to watch him give the belt up and have to step to the side after everything that he had gone through, how the fans had demanded that Daniel Bryan be in the Main event of Wrestlemania 30, only to get injured a short time after. So then, if both of these two won’t ever win over all of the audience, who should, if either wrestler be facing Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania? And if not, who should take the place of being Lesnar’s opponent?
- John Cena is in a feud with Rusev and I highly doubt that it will be resolved by the conclusion of WWE Fastlane.
- Seth Rollins didn’t get the job done at the Royal Rumble and it’s rumored that he is facing Randy Orton at Wrestlemania but he could cash in on the night so don’t rule out Rollins being the champion by the end of the night.
- Dolph Ziggler- Not on your life, it wouldn’t make any sense to suddenly throw Ziggler into the works, especially as he’s too busy getting vengeance on the Authority for firing him, Ryback and Erik Rowan, maybe next year?
Can’t really think of anyone else…I guess after all of that, there were only two superstars that WWE had for this situation…Reigns and Daniel Bryan…oh well, at least it’s not a part timer like Batista or The Rock main eventing this year. Personally, I think Daniel Bryan is a better choice, he’s been there and won it on the big stage whereas Reigns is only there because of family ties, that and I think he needs to be built up a bit more first…perhaps have him win the Intercontinental Championship first…Bryan had to win the United States Championship first…wrestlers who are rushed and built up too quickly are doomed to fail, heck even Cena had to wait three years before he won his first WWE Championship and he won the United States Championship before that and he’s better on the mic then Reigns…I’d rather listen to a Bella dribble on about nonsense like they do on a daily basis then listen to Reigns try to sound like he’s cool or the next big thing…should have left the fairy tales at home Roman, they may have just doomed you.
