Sunday’s Football action comes from St James Park as Newcastle take on Liverpool in the Barclays Premier League and usually, this is a closely called game where either team is a dead set winner but as for today’s game…not really the same because of how both teams have been performed recently. Newcastle are on a downward spiral under Steve McClaren who despite spending a vast sum of money on players, finds himself 19th in the Premier League whereas New manager Jurgen Klopp has the same set of players left to him by Brendan Rodgers, hasn’t had to spend a penny and has destroyed Man City, Chelsea and Southampton in recent weeks and have made Liverpool look like Tittle contenders again!
On paper, this looks like a one sided game that is unfair to Newcastle, from recent results, most fans would assume that Liverpool are going to walk this game and win it easily. It’s not guaranteed but looks likely because Newcastle…well they just don’t look a threat at the moment under McClaren or under Mike Ashley! Liverpool on the other hand look unstoppable at the moment and they must be licking their chops at the fact that 3 points is being presented to them on a platter by Steve McClaren.
If I were a Newcastle Fan, I would be worried right now because even if…even if Newcastle sack Steve McClaren…who would come in to take his place anyway? It’s like picking up a poisoned chalice this job…if you don’t have all the say on transfers and don’t have enough to buy the players you know can get you out of this predicament and where your team should be, why would you want to be manager of Newcastle? I can only think of two good names and that’s only because they appear desperate to get back into a job and Newcastle’s will just do.
- David Moyes
- Brendan Rodgers
Would you take any of these two managers? And as for January, will anyone else be brought in as emergency buys to try and stop relegation or will you stick with what you have?
If I were a Liverpool manager, I would be excited because after not having to buy a single player yet under Klopp, you have been fantastic in the last month, it’s a breath of fresh air and you must be getting very excited for January and what he could bring in to bolster your squad!
At the end of the day, I will go for a Liverpool win, a comfortable one at that so….3-0 for Liverpool is my prediction for the game and I think I’m being generous to Newcastle by saying that…morale just seems so low at the moment…your manager and players just aren’t performing whereas Liverpool’s are.
